combined with outstanding fine wine
knowledge.
Philip Gearing
- Director
Combines financial markets experience
with fine wine expertise to provide
unique mix of skills ideally positioned
for the investment services offered by
Cult Wines.
Philip spent over 20 years in Investment
Banking with some of the market leaders
including Goldman Sachs, Swiss Bank
Corporation & Tokyo-Mitsubishi and
therefore has both the technical &
business skills required to develop the
range of investment options that Cult
Wines offers to its clients.
Philip has also spent many years in the
fine wine market launching a specialist
Burgundy merchants in the mid-90’s and
was founding partner of Financial Wines
in 2001 which led the way in offering
on-line price transparency services to
the International fine wine community.
Oliver Gearing
- Director
Following a somewhat similar path to
Philip, Oliver spent his formative years
in stock broking and investment banking
most notably as an associate at ABN-AMRO.
Oliver was a driving force in launching
Cult Wines Ltd four years ago following
a lengthy period selling fine wine
investment services with a leading UK
company. Oliver’s acute knowledge of the
market as well as investor needs drive
him to launch
wineinvestment.org one of the
leading fine wine investment portals
worldwide.
Thomas Gearing
- Director / Market Analyst
Thomas Gearing joined the business on a
full time basis in 2009 following
graduation from the University of
Nottingham, having read History. Despite
a brief foray into the City, Thomas
decided to join the business and bring
his skills to the analytical team.
Thomas developed a keen interest in wine
throughout his formative years, whilst
accompanying Philip on many trips to the
Cote d’Or. Fine Wine investment marries
Thomas’ keen understanding of economics
with his analytical eye, which has
reaped its rewards over the last 18
months with record returns for clients.
Aarash Ghatineh
- Senior Portfolio Manager / Market
Analyst
Aarash joined the team towards the end
of 2009 at a junior level, having
previously worked at the chartered
accountants Landon Seamer. Aarash
graduated from the University of
Nottingham with a first class honours
degree in Politics and his analytical
skills were well received from day one.
Aarash’s meticulous knowledge of the
market has made him an invaluable
component to our Market Analysis team.
As senior portfolio manager his role
involves liaising with all new and
existing clients as well as overseeing
our junior managers. His multi-lingual
skills have helped develop our
burgeoning overseas client base.
Tom Turner
- Portfolio Manager / Logistics
Tom joined Cult Wines in the Summer of
2010. Having previously qualified as a
surveyor Tom was drawn to the wine
industry and joined Cult Wines to
further develop this interest.
With a detailed knowledge of the wine
industry through his Uncle’s award
winning winery Cornish Point (Felton
Road) Tom has quickly established
himself as a key member of our team. Tom
has also taken over responsibility of
logistics bringing a more dynamic and
efficient approach to this side of the
business.
Jonathan Stevenson
- Portfolio Manager / Marketing
The latest addition to the Cult Wines
Team, Jonathan joins having graduated
from Newcastle University in 2010.
Following on from his degree in
Marketing and Management, Jonathan has
helped in the implementation of a new
marketing strategy for the company.
As a portfolio manager, Jonathan’s role
acquires him to liaise with new and
existing clients in the development and
maintenance of client portfolios. With a
keen interest in the market and a
passion for the industry, Jonathan has
been a welcome addition to the team.
